J. Robert Ransone

J. Robert Ransone has been a member of the Green Source Holdings LLC Strategic Advisory Group since December 2009.

Mr. Ransoe formed Ransone Consultants, LLC in August 2014 and joined Enstream Capital Makets, LLC, Dallas, Texas as Advisory Board Member in September of 2014. He also serves on the Advisory Board of LBJ Wealth Advisors, Ltd., Austin, Texas.

Prior to joining Enstream Capital Ransone was Chief Operating Officer of King Operating Company which he joined in May 2010. Prior to joining King, he joined Barnes Oil and Gas, LLC in 2007 as Vice President – Finance and CFO and was elevated to the office of President in early 2009. Ransone brings expertise in oil and gas finance, management and acquisitions and divestitures. During his tenure at Wellspring Partners, LLC, Robert co-authored and published what is arguably the definitive article on the Barnett Shale in the December 2003 issue of Oil & Gas Investor Magazine. Robert has also been quoted in various articles and has given numerous lectures to the Energy Industry on the Barnett Shale as well as commodity price and mergers and acquisitions trends in the sector. He has been honored with numerous awards for his efforts on behalf of the Energy Industry.

In 2004 Robert joined one of his long-time clients, Five States Energy, LLC, as its CFO and Vice President of Business Development. At Five States, in addition to his CFO function, Robert oversaw acquisitions and divestment transactions. Five States, a private equity energy investment entity headquartered in Dallas, Texas, owns in excess of $300MM of long–life high quality producing properties. Ransone then joined a former Wellspring Partners’ client and friend, Duer Wagner III, as an advisor and drilling and acquisitions partner.

Prior to joining Five States, Ransone was a Founding Partner, CEO & President of Wellspring Partners, LLC. He formed Wellspring in August 1995 to provide petroleum engineering, marketing, and M&A advisory services to Energy Industry clients. Under Robert’s guidance, Wellspring completed many significant projects for such clients as Denbury Resources, Inc.; Five States; Bass Enterprises Production Co.; Belco Energy Corporation; Comstock Resources, Inc.; EEX Corporation; Halliburton Oil Producing Company; Chief Oil &Gas; Hunt Oil Company; Marathon Oil Company; Merit Energy Company; NEXEN Petroleum USA; Inc.; Rosewood Resources, Inc.; Hilcorp Energy Corporation; Wagner Oil Company; and, Wynn-Crosby Energy, Inc. These transactions had a total value in excess of $850 million. In 2004 Ransone sold Wellspring Partners to PLS, an active competitor in the energy industry.

Robert was instrumental in forming ADAM Energy Forum in 1994, an acquisitions and divestments focused organization in North Texas. ADAM now counts over 400 members from Energy companies drawn from Texas and four contiguous states. Robert served as President from 1997 to 2003 and remains on the Board and is a Trustee. Robert is a founding member and former Trustee of KidLinks Foundation, an Energy-Industry-related charitable organization. KidLinks makes substantial contributions to benefit ill children in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. Ransone has served on several committees at the Dallas Petroleum Club.

Ransone also actively supports his alma mater, Stanford University, serving on both the Board of the Petroleum Investments Committee and the Leading Matters Formation Committee, as well as the Special Gifts Committee of the Stanford Fund for Undergraduate Education. He is also active in fund raising for The Choate School, Wallingford Connecticut, from which he graduated in 1959. Robert is an active member of Coon Creek Club, Athens, Texas, Dallas Wildcat Committee, Society of Professional Engineers, Society of Independent Petroleum Earth Scientists, Petroleum Engineers Club of Dallas, Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, and the Dallas Geological Society. Robert co-founded and is an Officer and Board Member of the Dallas-based Metroplex Energy Tennis Tournament and is on the Advisory Board of the World Oilman’s Tennis Tournament, Houston, Texas.

Robert is a past officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA); past President and Board member of the North Texas Energy Council; and, is a member and past officer and Board member of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.

Immediately prior to forming Wellspring Partners, Robert provided services as a Senior Consultant to EBCO U.S.A., Inc., and expanding EBCO’s capabilities into the larger property bid-sale market where he closed $55 million in sales. Prior to EBCO, Robert served nine years as Manager of Acquisitions and Divestitures for Bridge Oil (U.S.A.), Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of an Australian public company, and its predecessor company, Petrus Oil Company, L.P. Robert’s experience at Bridge and Petrus included 145 acquisition transactions totaling in excess of $245 million and 120 divestment transactions totaling in excess of $38 million. Prior to working for Petrus Oil Company, Robert managed Ransone Operating Company, a privately held petroleum exploration, production and operations company with properties in Texas, Oklahoma and North Dakota, including a ten mile gas gathering system.

From 1968 through 1971 Robert worked for Dorchester Gas Corporation serving as Controller, Secretary, and CFO. Dorchester Gas Corporation was a publicly traded natural gas producing and processing company with net annual earnings of $17 million. From 1971 to 1974 Robert served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of International Petrodata, Inc., Calgary, Canada. Robert helped restructure and ultimately reorganize Petrodata (formerly a subsidiary of Dorchester Gas) into new business ventures in international petroleum consulting and petroleum data services. Earlier experience included experience with ARCO’s North American Producing Division in Dallas, in the Budget Planning & Evaluation Department and a two-year tour with the United States Army serving as a Captain in the Air Defense Artillery Group assigned to NORAD.

Robert’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Industrial Engineering from Stanford University in 1963 and a Masters of Business Administration from Wharton School – University of Pennsylvania in 1965 with emphasis on Finance and Accounting.

Ransone is married to Patti McGouirk Ransone from Ft Worth, Texas. They have four daughters: Emily of San Francisco, California, Heather of Dallas, Texas, Meredith (Mrs. Brad Hutchens of The Woodlands, Texas); and, Chandler (Mrs. Doug Murtha of Dallas). Robert and Patti are active members of All Saints Catholic Church, Dallas.
